AHA Instructor Courses

AHA Instructor Courses are offered on a periodic basis or scheduled privately based upon the number of requests that we receive. To view courses being offered please see our calendar here. If you or your business is looking to certify as an instructor in a field not listed below feel free to get in touch with us to see if we can set up a class for you!

Please visit the AHA website for additional information on becoming an AHA Instructor before enrolling in a class.

Below are the following steps to becoming an AHA Instructor:
Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network.

AHA BLS and/or Heartsaver Instructor

Note: If you take the AHA BLS Instructor Class then you are also qualified to teach all of the AHA Heartsaver classes.

Fee: $250 – Includes classroom instruction, initial class monitoring, initial instructor card, and first year *alignment fee.

Offered: One class every other month (may call to schedule a private date)

Time: Approximately 4 hour initial classroom in the morning and then a 4 hour class assisting a BLS lead instructor in the afternoon to public students.

Certification:  2 years

Testing: Skills Check-off and open resource written test required.

Additional Fees (Required):

*alignment fee: Idaho Medical Academy charges $75 per year for alignment fees after your first initial year. The alignment fee covers administrative duties and access to our class enrollware program. This fee does not include your student eCard fees.

ACLS and/or PALS Instructor

Fee: $300 – Includes classroom instruction, initial class monitoring, initial instructor card, and first year *alignment fee.

Offered: One class every quarter (may call to schedule a private date)

Time: Approximately 6-8 hour initial classroom instruction and then an additional 6-8 hour class assisting an ACLS/PALS lead instructor on a separate day to public students.

Certification:  2 years

Testing: Skills Check-off and open resource written test required.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
